Additionally, an optional trim kit can be purchased separately for each Dimplex IgniteXLF model allowing for installation in older homes with 2×4 walls (most modern homes use 2×6 wall construction). The trim kit allows a semi-recessed completed wall installation (2×6 construction allows for a fully recessed, ‘flush’ installation). About the Author:

With over 30 years of experience in HVAC and fireplaces, I began my career in New York City in 1987. After earning my Journeyman status and completing a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects, I moved to Phoenix to further my education in Electro-Mechanical Technologies and Electrical Systems. I later earned my BPI certification in building energy auditing and the NFI Hearth Design Specialist Certification.

I founded Magic Touch Mechanical in 1997 after obtaining three AZROC licenses for commercial and residential HVAC, as well as home remodeling. In 2002, I co-founded The Fire Place with my wife and business partner, Michele Morgan.

Over the years, I've been actively involved in several industry associations, including ACCA, MTCAZ, HPBA, HPC, and AZEL. I've served on boards, held leadership positions, and acted as president for some of these organizations. Currently, I also serve on various business committees, including the Better Business Bureau’s ACIAC.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been teaching the next generation of tradespeople about HVAC, fireplaces, and building science. Writing this blog allows me to share my knowledge and experience with readers, and I find great satisfaction in hearing how my articles, product reviews, and homeowner tips have helped others.

When I’m not working, I enjoy motorcycling, BMX riding, and writing. As a 20-year skydiver with over 1,000 jumps, I've had my share of exciting adventures — from jumping out of planes, helicopters, and hot air balloons across the country (and a few other countries), to participating in large, organized jumps with world-renowned skydiving legends.

After more than 28 years, Magic Touch Mechanical and The Fire Place by Magic Touch remain one of the few long-standing HVAC and fireplace companies in Phoenix that is still family-owned and operated — and we plan to keep it that way!
